Any decaf drinker knows that finding a comparable decaf alternative can be a challenge. Often times, the decaf version can be lacking in the same body and richness as its caffeinated counterpart. Once you've found the right brand and blend, then comes to task of seeing whether its offered in K Cup or single serve coffee pod form. These factors can make the task of finding the perfect decaf k cup blend a daunting one to say the least. This being said, we recently had the opportunity to try a non-flavored selection of Maud's Decaf coffee pods coffee pods and are very pleased to report that they all provide excellent decaf alternatives.
One of the first blends we tried was the Maud's Decaf Mellow Mood. It's notably smooth and sweet. Drinking the Maud's Coffee Decaf Mellow Mood blend will coat your palette with a cheerfully yet ‘mellow' flavor that stays true to the blends namesake. The taste is also nuanced with a ‘syrupy sweet berry acidity that finishes with a full, chocolaty body.' One of the things about a smooth blend such as this is that you can really taste the various high and low notes as it makes its way from your mouth into your stomach.
There are some Maud's Coffee customers that claim this blend lacks body. While we can see where they'd be coming from, we believe that those who make this statement don't realize the fact that this is a medium roast to begin with. To expect the same boldness and body of dark roast from the Maud's Coffee Decaf Mellow Mood blend would be an unfair expectation, in our opinion. While this is certainly not the boldest blend, it still packs enough of a punch to be considered a great decaf alternative.
For those looking for a bolder selection of Maud's decaf coffee pods, we suggest checking out Maud's Tall Dark and Handsome decaf blend. Maud's Tall Dark and Handsome decaf blends offers an pleasantly robust and bodied coffee experience – all without the caffeine. This is where the line up of Maud's decaf K cups® is taken to the next level.
It has everything you'd want in a decaf dark roast and is topped with a silky smooth texture. One of the things we appreciated about this blend was that for all its boldness, you can still taste all of the subtleties of roasted nuts and sweet aromas. While it's not on par with the ‘in your face' boldness of Peet's Bold Roasts, it certainly holds its own in the dark roast decaf arena. If you want an even richer coffee drinking experience, try using half the water.
Both of the above blends offer an exquisite decaf coffee experience that stays true to authentic coffee flavor. They could've justifiably stopped here. But they didn't. Maud's hasn't forgotten about the light roast coffee lover and has created a decaf light roast that's just as good as it's medium and dark roast counterparts. This light roast decaf offers a very clean and crisp finish but without the caffeine.
For those who enjoy a variety of roasts, definitely check out the Maud's decaf variety pack. You won't be disappointed.
Maud's Decaf K cups® have become a household favorite for many coffee lovers out there who want to take a caffeine hiatus. And it's really not hard to see why given the quality of these blends. As a major bonus, all of Mauds K cups® are 100% recyclable which is a rising yet still uncommon trend in the K Cup industry. The company's commitment to environmental sustainability is matched by their ability to produce high quality coffee products at more than reasonable prices.
