Tips for Buying Coffee
- There are two types of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta
- Arabica is the most popular type of coffee with its fragrant aroma and sweeter taste, but doesn’t have as much caffeine as Robusta
- Robusta is cheaper and offers a stronger and more bitter flavor. It’s often used for espresso and instant coffee mixes
- Most high caffeine coffees will be made up of Robusta beans
- Light roasts compared to medium and dark roasts will allow more of the coffee’s natural flavors to express themselves. You’ll taste more nuanced flavors with light roasts.
- Light roasts will also typically have more caffeine than other roasts. The longer a coffee is exposed to hot temperatures, the more caffeine is burned off.
- We suggest going with single origin coffees which are coffees sourced from the same geographical region. Compared to blends which include a mix of beans from different areas, these types of beans offer a more uniform and typically higher quality coffee experience.
