Here at Best Quality Coffee, we’ve had our share of reviewing some really impressive coffee products from Kopi Luwak coffee to high end Jura espresso machines. We’ve never actually done a coffee mug review before because quite frankly, we’ve never seen one that we thought was cool enough to warrant one. After all, one would think there are only but so many things to say about a coffee mug other than commenting on the meme or message written on it. We recently came across Creature Cups and had to make an exception. We contacted Creature Cups to see if they would send us a sample cup in exchange for an unbiased Creature Cups review.
Whether it’s a super sleek Batman mug or a retro-style Tetris mug, coffee mugs usually tout their personality on the outside of the cup.
With Creature Cups, the surprise is on the inside.
From the outside, these cups look like ordinary but high quality coffee cups. The mug feels well-balanced and solid when I hold it. Upon closer inspection, you’ll see a beautifully crafted animal sculpture sitting right inside the cup. I was immediately struck by the intricacy and detail of the sculpture which in my case was an inquisitive fox. Each animal or sea creature is infused with a very subtle yet unmistakable personality. The sculpture peers out of the cup as if it’s trying to reach out and have a conversation with you.
When the cup is filled to the brim with coffee, there are virtually no signs that there’s a porcelain guest inside although you’ll see it more clearly if your’re drinking a light roast. The experience of watching a fox slowly emerge as I drank my coffee was for lack of a better word: cool! Like with any activity in life, it’s all about the experience. Dramatic as it may sound, having such a unique coffee mug to hold my coffee has really enhanced my morning routine.
This is also a exceptional conversation starter for when you’re hosting friends and family. Warning: Depending on the type of person drinking the coffee, it may be a good idea to let them know there’s an animal inside their cup before hand 🙂 I absolutely love this mug and think it’s one of the best coffee mugs around as far as creativity and quality.
No Creature Cups review would be completed without mentioning the company’s very impressive selection of coffee mugs. From lions and bears (no tigers yet) to manatees and sea otters, Creature Cups offers a wide variety of options from which to choose. They also offer certain designs in a bowl format.
The cup can be easily washed using a soft brush so as not to damage the sculpture. It naturally requires a little more work and diligence to clean but that’s a small price to pay in my humble opinion. One other thing worth mentioning in this Creature Cups review is that stirring your cup will require more coordination since you have to get around the figure inside. Fortunately, the fox is positioned in a way that gives you enough space to use a small spoon to mix in your cream and sugar.
