[Updated: 1/22 to include review of additional flavors] The world of healthy coffee or more specifically nootropic coffee has grown tremendously over the past few years. For those who may not know, it is coffee formulated to offer a variety of health benefits such as improving mental cognition and boosting your immune system. Allow me to first admit that the thought of “healthy” may repulse many a coffee drinker who for lack of knowledge, would prejudge this entire sector of coffee. If you’re one of those people, you’re missing out. Enter Grateful Earth Coffee. I’ve actually had my share of nootropic coffee so know that the following Grateful Earth review is written with these previous experiences in mind.
Kindly allow me to share my journey with this coffee. As a long time reviewer here at Best Quality Coffee, I’ve certainly summarized many a coffee experience. However, for this Grateful Earth review, I felt like it deserved a little more in terms of describing the relationship I had with this unique brew. Have you noticed patterns in your life where you’re either super-productive or super-lackadaisical. Those ups and downs from industrious focus to carefree slacking seemed to characterize seasons of my life. In my own way being super productive was usually followed by a time of rest or recharge. Technically, some may call this respite. That is a fine adjective, but one not commonly used. I’d like to change that. A recent experience I had with Grateful Earth Coffee brought the term into focus for me, both figuratively and literally.
Respite is defined as a short period of rest or relief from something difficult.
If we’re being honest, we all look for that everyday. Everyone needs a brief break to come back strong, a recharge so to speak. I took stock of the usual ways I get respite in my life whether it’s that drink I “earned” after a long day of work or a brief glimpse at something entertaining instead of a looming deadline. When I looked closer at these rather lame forms of respite I quickly recognized there was actually no recharge and I wasn’t coming back to the task with renewed focus. Grateful Earth gave me a new perspective on this circumstance.

Grateful Earth Review
Grateful Earth offers instant coffee packets that depart from any pre-conceptions you may have about instant coffee. I experienced Grateful Earth’s Espresso Super Brain Blend, which like their other creations, combines coffee with adaptogens, natural nootropics, and superfoods. Specifically, turmeric, cinnamon, lion’s mane, chaga, l-theanine, and black pepper. Right up front I gave credit to Grateful Earth based on the addition of those great ingredients, but I was no doubt skeptical about what the flavor would be like. I mean, I have sucked down a lot of spinach smoothies for the sake of nutrition, but that doesn’t mean they taste good.

Grateful Review: The Taste
For this Grateful Earth review, I made my first 6 oz cup of Grateful Earth Espresso blend and was pleasantly surprised by a few noted observations. First, I have had other mushroom powders and coffee and they don’t usually dissolve easily. A few twirls of my spoon and the Grateful Earth espresso turned from a powder to a smooth drink.
Next, I immediately noticed the deep brown ink color was on par with real espresso and there was even a decent amount of froth. It’s weird how the mind sees espresso and instantly expects espresso taste. I was distracted from all those extra ingredients that first caught my attention and wanted to taste espresso. Fortunately, the deep espresso flavor I yearned for was certainly there. Grateful Earth’s choice of espresso bean was on point and roasted well. Like a child, I then started to taste for the cinnamon or turmeric or black pepper. Confused, did I want espresso or spices?
Either way, the presence of subtle spices with real espresso made for an excellent experience.
A week later, by the fifth or sixth cup, my palate could taste it all. This is an exceptionally well-put together cup of coffee.
What else I started to realize, was the experience and upshot Grateful Earth offered me. That is, it became my respite. More so than any of my other methods. It was quick and easy to make. With each cup I enjoyed exploring the melding of both robust and subtle flavors. Most importantly, it was a legitimate recharge. Not like my other break techniques. Grateful Earth offered a way to reinvigorate my mental state. Perhaps the coffee break itself or the distraction of enjoying the taste was the pause from work I needed. However, I sincerely believe the natural additives aligned my focus and made a difference in focused thinking. Not in a caffeinated way, but a more harmonious condition.
Another huge benefit of this coffee is that in addition to being a delicious health drink, it’s portable. Their convenient sachets make it ideal for hikes or camping trips. I’m not exactly sure about the technical details of their freeze-drying process, but whatever is involved, Grateful Earth has managed to effectively preserve the coffee beans natural flavors.
Grateful Earth offers their coffee in both a medium and dark roast. I will be reviewing their medium roast shortly and updating this Grateful Earth coffee review afterwards. If their medium roast is anything like their dark roast, I’m in for another treat.
No Grateful Earth review would be complete without at least mentioning the company’s 100% satisfaction guarantee policy. For those who are stepping into the world of healthy coffee for the first time, this should offer some peace of mind. The coffee isn’t cheap, nor should it be based on the experience it delivers. If you don’t like the coffee for any reason, they’ll offer a refund. This is something I think speaks to their well-founded confidence in their product.
Grateful Earth Review – 3 in 1 Super Brain Blend
If espresso isn’t your thing, then fret not. Grateful Earth Coffee also offers a gourmet coffee blend that confers many of the same benefits of their espresso brew. Just like the espresso, the gourmet coffee is concocted with turmeric, cinnamon, lion’s mane and chaga mushroom powders and L-theanine and black pepper.
First the flavoring is excellent. I love the brain blend ingredients, specifically how they complement and round out the flavor of the coffee. Grateful Earth uses micro-ground coffee which ensures a great coffee flavor, but also seems to fuse perfectly with the cinnamon and black pepper. As I mentioned from my experience with the espresso variety, I believe this mixture of coffee caffeine with the chaga, lion’s mane, turmeric and l-theanine really provides a punch to my energy and focus.
Moving from the espresso variety to the gourmet coffee I was a bit skeptical how this instant coffee would dissolve. In my other instant coffee experiences, I noticed a tendency for the coffee to clump. In these cases, I usually spend a lot of time mixing and despite my best efforts, the instant coffee just doesn’t fully dissolve. Not the case with Grateful Earth. This is the most convenient instant coffee I have had. Now combine that with the brain blend and I truly believe Grateful Earth stands alone in the instant coffee realm.
(picture without yet stirring. Perfectly dissolved…yum)
I have to say, based purely on flavor, my go to is the espresso blend. It’s rich, with a fantastic aroma, and full of the flavors I just love around mid-day. I have been so impressed with Grateful Earth I have shared it with several friends and co-workers. To be honest, it’s easy to share. Just hand someone a packet and let them enjoy it on their own time. Much different then brewing coffee according to my preferences and then impressing it upon others. Anyways, many of those I shared with continually rave about the gourmet blend. So it seems Grateful Earth has attended to nearly everyone with just two products.
Whether you are an espresso guy or a gourmet girl, Grateful Earth has you covered. And I will say this. If you are coffee snob (like me) who only drinks fresh ground coffee, you are missing out. What Grateful Earth has created with this brain blend coffee is something every coffee lover should try. Having spent quality time with this quality nootropic coffee, I’m confident it will become a mainstay in your coffee regiment.
Interestingly, if you take some time to read what motivates Grateful Earth you will have no doubt what their mission is. Grateful Earth wants to offer the best parts of nature, inspire people to be their best in love and service, and maintain an attitude of gratitude. And they want to do it with a cup that speaks my language. In closing this Grateful Earth review, this is a unique product that’s as delicious as it is healthy. Thank you Grateful Earth, you offer respite that is just one cup away.
