The world of top cold brews is a highly competitive industry to say the least. As of 2020, the cold brew market size was worth over half a billion dollars ($522 million to be exact). This being the case, new entrants into this market have their work cut out for them. One relatively new company into this space is Explorer Cold Brew who offers cold brew but with a twist that we'll talk about in this article. The company sent us some of their coffee for an honest and thorough Explorer Cold Brew review. Read on to see whether this cold brew is worth a closer look.
Explorer Cold Brew Co. is a very intriguing coffee company.
They specialize in making concentrated cold brew with various levels of caffeine in them. The founder, Cason Crane started the company during the COVID-19 pandemic when he was frustrated with the generic content of caffeine found in specialty-grade coffee. Thus, sparking the idea to start Explorer Cold Brew which offers four different blends of its cold brew – each with different levels of caffeine content. They take special care sourcing their beans and it really shows in the final product.
To start off this Explorer Cold Brew review, let's first take a look at their coffee. Explorer sources their coffee beans from the top 3% of all coffee beans worldwide. Additionally, the is single origin coffee which means they all come from the same farm thereby ensuring a consistency in quality. Secondly, the beans for their cold brew are sourced from none other than Ethiopia, the birth place of coffee. And lastly, all the beans are 100% organic and fair trade certified. Explorer does a spectacular job sourcing their coffee and you can trust that your cold brew is coming from a good place.
These premium beans are then cold brewed for 12 hours using Explorer's proprietary process.
Explorer Cold Brew Review: The Taste
I am a huge fan of cold brew and was really excited to give this coffee a shot. As directed, I poured 2oz of the concentrated cold brew into a glass of ice. I then added 6-8oz of water and stirred. This simple process made it incredibly easy to make a delicious glass of cold brew.
The glass was very smooth and had a very low-acid profile which is a huge plus especially for coffee lovers with a sensitive stomach. I picked up hints of fruitiness, Toblerone, and honey. This is exceptional cold brew that's full-flavored, balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, and teeming with nuanced flavors not typically found in regular cold brews.
Explorer Cold Brew consults with award-winning roast experts from around the world to help make their product what is today. The flavor and taste found in this cold brew is a clear reflection of this fact.
Explorer Cold Brew Review: The Caffeine
In continuing this Explorer Cold Brew review, I'd like to now focus on the caffeine which is a major selling point for this product. And one that I think all coffee lovers will appreciate.
The caffeine content of the regular cold brew was just right for the occasion, seeing as though I drank this first thing in the morning after waking up. I got a jolt of energy, but it wasn’t overwhelming and overly jittery. One thing I love about Explorer Cold Brew is that you get to choose your own path and coffee drinking experience. With four levels of caffeine content (no caffeine, low caffeine, regular caffeine, and extra caffeine) you are able to find the perfect cold brew for your situation.
- Decaf – Basically no Caffeine
- Low Caff – 100mg of Caffeine equivalent to 1 cup of coffee
- Reg Caff – 200 mg of caffeine equivalent to 2 cups of coffee
- High Caff – Equivalent to 3 cups of coffee
I could see myself using the extra caffeine version when I am especially tired or have a lot to accomplish at work. Alternatively, I can equally see the opportunity to brew the low and no caffeine cold brews when craving a cup of cold brew later in the day. Most coffee lovers would drink coffee throughout the day if it were not for the need to sleep. Explorer Cold Brew gives you the flexibility and ability to drink coffee at anytime of the day. Just choose the right caffeine level and you can enjoy a refreshing cold brew without being up all night.
With health-conscious people becoming increasingly aware of their daily caffeine intake, Explorer Cold Brew has addressed what we believe to be a real need within the cold brew industry. Many coffee drinkers are understandably concerned that decaf or less caff coffee is subject to flavor dilution. This is a fair concern. Fortunately, it's not a concern here as all of the company's variable caffeine offerings deliver an authentic and full-flavored coffee experience. It's also worth mentioning that their decaf is created through the Swiss Water Process which is known for its ability to effectively preserve the full flavors of the coffee bean.

Another great thing about the Explorer Cold Brew is its almost unlimited applications. The cold brew can be used to create a variety of coffee drinks including: Frappe, classic iced coffee, iced lattes, cold brew smoothies, cappuccinos, macchiatos, americanos, desserts and more! The fact that this concentrated coffee can be used for both hot and cold drinks is fantastic. This flexibility really allows you to explore your own cold brew path and brew the drink that you are craving, with the right level of caffeine for any occasion. It's an example of coffee customization at its finest.
If you are a cold brew enthusiast, or looking to try out a new cold brew, I cannot recommend Explorer Cold Brew enough. Its virtually unlimited drink options, various caffeine content, and unmatched taste put it above most cold brews I have tried in the past. It is also very easy to make, and its 4-1 concentrated profile makes for a very convenient way to enjoy a cold glass of cold brew on the go.
5/5 – An Outstanding Cold Brew for both coffee connoisseur and casual drinker.
The company offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee giving you the opportunity to enter the world of cold brew coffee free of risk.
