Wildcrafter Botanical Coffee Review – Defend Blend
For this Wildcrafter Botanicals review, I first took a look at their Defend Blend which contains 100% Organic Arabica Coffee with Reishi Mushroom, Elderberry Fruit and Astragalus.
The #1 concern for most people when trying a new type of coffee is taste. I'll be the first to admit that the first time I tried mushroom coffee, I was very concerned about the flavor.
I mean, I like mushrooms, herbs, and coffee. But that doesn't mean I like them together. Questions like “Will this even taste like coffee?” ran through my mind before taking the first sip.

I'm very pleased to report that this coffee tastes incredible and there are zero traces of mushroom or herbal flavors. It also smells just as incredible with a potent aroma. Even though these were sealed K-Cups, the deep scent of fresh ground Colombian coffee could be still be fully enjoyed.
Rich, smooth, and complex is a very accurate way to describe this coffee in my opinion.
I like smooth coffee but sometimes a brew can be so smooth that I don't taste both the subtle and distinct flavors of the bean. The Defend Blend doesn't have this problem. Instead, this coffee treats you to a very clean tasting and non-bitter brew that teems with a wonderfully complex flavor. Just as a reference, I consider Starbucks (Pike Place) to be pretty acidic.
This coffee was easy on the stomach while being incredibly flavorful. That being the case, we decided to include it on our list of best low acid coffees of 2020.
Even though this tastes like a low acid coffee, there's a subtle and refined acidity to the finish. I really enjoyed this aftertaste and it made the coffee experience all the richer and unique.
Wildcrafter Botanicals Defend Blend is formulated to support healthy immune function and maintain energy levels. While I can't scientifically prove this beyond personal experience, I can say that there was a feeling of natural energy that came from drinking this coffee. Mind you, the energy was different than that which comes from caffeine. I can describe it as being a cleaner and more mild form of energy.

I'd also categorize this as a medium body coffee perfect for those who enjoy a fuller brew.
Wildcrafter Botanical Coffee Review – Decaf Blend
I also had the chance to try their decaf blend which doesn't actually include mushrooms. This blend is appropriately named the “Spiritual Chill Blend” and it contains Passionflower, Chamomile and Holy Basil. I really enjoyed how relaxing this decaf coffee made me feel. This blend is complex in flavor and strange as it may sound, delivers a very mild floral accent that reminds me of tea.
I was very happy to hear that Wildcrafter coffee sources 100% organic Arabica beans. In my years of drinking different types of coffee, I've noticed that as a whole, organic coffee beans taste cleaner and purer than non-organic coffee beans. Wildcrafter Botanical Coffee is a prime example of this.
Any discussion of the best mushroom coffee brands will typically involve a company known as Four Sigmatic. They're very popular. We've actually tried their coffee before and can say the thousands of positive reviews are warranted. But one notable advantage that Wildcrafter has over Four Sigmatic is that they offer mushroom coffee K Cups. This is very fortunate for Keurig owners such as myself.
So is this one of the best mushroom and herbal coffee brands?
In conclusion, I can say Wildcrafter Botanicals coffee with its organic approach to health and coffee is in fact one of the best tasting mushroom coffee brands available. The taste of their coffee exceeded my expectations and as a self-professing coffee snob, that says a lot. This coffee is one of those brews where you can really taste and ultimately, feel the quality of its ingredients. Highly recommended for discerning coffee lovers of all types…not just ones who like mushrooms and herbs.
Additional Notes: According to their website, Wildcrafter Botanicals uses the 1st certified recyclable K-Cups in the U.S. These are coffee pods made from materials that can “collected, separated, or otherwise recovered from a waste stream an established recycling program”.
