Phil and Sebastian Coffee Review
My husband and I just received a bag of San Jacinto, Guatemalan coffee beans from Phil and Sebastian Roasters. We love Guatemalan beans and were very excited to do a review of Phil and Sebastian's Coffee. Guatemalan beans always seem to have a nice aroma. And this bag of beans was no exception. In fact, it contained some of the most aromatic beans we’ve ever smelled. You can tell a lot about the quality of beans just by its fragrance. The smell itself was perfect too.
We performed a simple coffee cupping with these beans and immediately noticed the beautiful layer of crema on the top of the cup of coffee. We also took note of the coffee's aroma and found notes of cherry & molasses, and hints of citrus which we were able to pick up on. The coffee overall was pretty sweet tasting and seemed on the lighter side. I'd say this was a light to medium bodied coffee with balanced flavor. We were able to try the coffee with a Chemex, French press, and a normal coffee maker. I personally thought the flavors came out best in the French press, and my husband loved the pour over.
This coffee was good in the coffee maker as well, but it didn’t bring out all of the flavors the way the brewing other methods did. I would definitely recommend taking the extra time to do a pour over or French press to get the full experience of the bean. It is well worth it!
My husband and I both come from coffee shop experience and backgrounds. I have managed a couple coffee shops and he has as well. We both dream of starting our own coffee shop one day! With this being said, we’ve been around many quality coffee beans and can say we truly enjoyed this roast from Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters. We appreciated the packaging of the beans as well which included a short description of the coffee's flavor profile on the front of the bag which I felt was pretty close to our own description.
Phil and Sebastian Coffee Review: Conclusion
In the end, Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters is a solid option for discerning coffee lovers who enjoy a light to medium-bodied brew with delightful bright floral notes.
