Humblemaker Coffee, based out of California, recently announced the launch of its new line of gourmet coffees. While the company is best known for its high-end cold brew shots, many don't realize they make an incredible cup of regular coffee too. We've been fans of Humblemaker Coffee for some time now so naturally we were very excited about getting our hands on one of these brews. For this Humblemaker Coffee review, we selected their prized Cerro Gordo Espresso.
The Cerro Gordo Espresso blend from Humblemaker Coffee Co. is a dark roast, traditional espresso blend which is perfectly suitable for any traditional espresso beverage.
The elegant packaging and delightful aroma were a pleasant surprise when opening the package up for the first time.
As soon as you open the box you are stuck with a deep, coffee-house like aroma that makes you want to brew a cup right away. The packaging is elegant and simple, alluding to what is inside. Included in the packaging is a hand written note of thanks, which adds such a personal and unique touch.
I used this blend a few different ways, at first, I made a traditional latte with a standard espresso machine, which turned out to be very good. This dark roast blend is perfect for making a traditional espresso beverage, or simply to make a standard cup of drip coffee. It had all the favorite flavors of traditional espresso, a robust, deep, bold taste with chocolate notes. The intense dark chocolate notes were perfect with the steamed milk, creating a wonderful cup of coffee.
I also made some “espresso” using the old-fashioned stovetop espresso maker with this blend, which turned out to be pretty decent. Although this technique usually makes overly strong, bitter coffee, this blend worked very well with this machine, creating a subtle bitterness with nuanced flavors of chocolate and citrus.
This method also brought out the robust, almost smokey flavor of the coffee. I imagine that this would also be delicious if using a French press which could create a very pleasant, but strong cup of coffee. All in all, this blend creates great, traditional espresso with robust, dark chocolate flavors. Having lived most of my life in California, I appreciate this California-based coffee company and their dedication to using sustainable practices, while fulfilling their mission of giving aid to those living with autism.
If anyone would like a delicious, traditional espresso blend, I cannot recommend this product enough. It creates a deeply flavorful latte, or a rich and robust espresso shot by itself. The initial aroma, elegant packaging, handwritten note, and delicious, traditional taste of this coffee shows the dedication to perfection and craftsmanship of Humblemaker Coffee Co., and their Cerro Gordo Espresso blend.
In conclusion, the quality of Humblemaker's new line of coffee isn't surprising. The company maintains impressively high standards for their coffee, and these new flavors are no exception.
