Every coffee drinker is all too aware that coffee reviews are highly subjective. What's way too strong for one is often the epitome of perfection for another. I offer this disclaimer to start off this Herkimer Coffee review given the many differing opinions and preferences that define our global coffee-drinking community. For this Herkimer Coffee review, we'll be checking out Herkimer Coffee's Drip Blend.
Off the bat, Herkimer Coffee has a very enticing aroma and depending on how sensitive your nose is, you can immediately discern a soft and mild acidity. I usually prefer my coffee with low acidity but in this case, I was surprised to find myself appreciating the mild acidic and fresh smell.
The Herkimer Coffee Drip Blend is full-bodied and offers a smoothness that rivals even Gevalia which is my personal standard for smoothness. One of the most enjoyable qualities of this drip blend is its amazingly velvety texture. I found myself allowing it to just sit in my mouth while my taste buds soaked up the subtle hints of chocolate and caramel. In many ways, the coffee didn't feel like a liquid but rather a substance that could almost be chewed. Although the thought of chewing coffee may be off-putting, the image I just tried to paint was intended to be positive. It's not too often you find a blend that has this kind of deep texture combined with rich flavor. The drip blend boasts a clean finish allowing you to savor the actual flavors of the coffee without distraction. The caramel seemed stronger than the chocolate which made for a taste that brought back childhood memories of “Worther's Originals”. In addition to the pleasing caramel and chocolate flavor, there was were distinct cherry notes that accented the experience with an enjoyable floral taste.
This drip blend is labeled as a medium roast but tastes more like a “medium dark” roast. The extra darkness adds a richness that emboldened the coffee's existing flavors.
At the end of the day, the Herkimer Coffee Drip Blend is a delicious blend that more than lives up to the Herkimer Coffee brand name. If you've had a chance to try this blend and would like to leave a Herkimer Coffee review, we'd love to hear from you.
