Amora Coffee is a gourmet coffee brand that opened its doors in 2011. Over the years, their coffee subscription has turned many a coffee lover into a loyal customer. However, what can you realistically expect when you order their coffee? Stay tuned for the following Amora Coffee Review to get the full scoop.
I received my order of Amora Elegante Blend Whole Bean coffee in a timely fashion, and surprisingly found a 52 oz Stainless Steel Vacuum-Sealed Canister included with my order. The coffee was contained in 2 foil, vacuum-sealed pouches along with a “Thank You” card offering free shipping and $10 cash back on my next purchase. While the amenities were welcomed bonuses, I was naturally most interested in how the coffee smelled and tasted.
When I cut open the coffee pouch, it was obvious the beans were freshly roasted as the aroma was warm and delicate. Most coffee lovers are well aware of the fact that aroma can be just as much a part of the coffee experience as the taste. The bean emanated a nutty and slightly floral fragrance, with a hint of the coffee’s soon to be discovered smooth acidity hanging in the balance. I first brewed the coffee as a cold-brew, which incidentally is my wife’s favorite drink. The brew was dark and rich with a robust aroma strong enough to thoroughly permeate the kitchen. Cutting it with 50% water and some heavy cream brought out the fine floral flavors I had smelled when I opened the bag.
The coffee was smooth with a tangy taste at the beginning followed by a nutty and earthy finish. I really enjoyed the flavor contrasts which enlivened my taste buds with each sip. I also spent a week of vacation drinking this coffee from a French press. I found that the steeping of the beans in hot water created an even more vigorous flavor profile while delivering a smooth mouth-feel and familiar earthy finish. I shared the coffee with many people I camped with, all of whom asked what the brand of the coffee was and where I received it, hoping they could order their own. I think no Amora Coffee review would be complete without mentioning that. The unguarded responses of the coffee drinkers speaks volumes to just how enjoyable this coffee is.
Overall, I thought this was exceptional coffee and the very definition of a pleasant surprise. The flavor was very similar to my favorite local coffee, but had an even smoother finish with less acid than what I am used to. In conclusion, I will be ordering more of this coffee from Amora.
Note: Amora Coffee offers a $1 trial of their coffee. It's a great risk-free way to test out their coffee. Please note that this is considered a coffee subscription so you'll be charged the following month unless you cancel.
